Village Corps
Since you are reading this online, you know that you can find pretty much everything you need on the web. Whether it is books, clothing, car loans or expert advice about a computer problem or gardening dilemma, you can find what you need to meet your needs and interests. But what about those in the most poor regions of the world? The poor have very little access - let alone online access--to the products, services and experts that can help them, yet they desperately need help to prosper. Today, NGO’s and government programs specialize on implementing various essential point solutions for specific problems – irrigation, immunizations, engineering services, etc. There are also experts like ecologists, agronomists, and doctors that specialize in areas relating to assistance to the poor. So, if all this exists, what is the problem? We believe the poor lack a “system” to help themselves meet their needs - like the Web we use daily - that aggregates all the resources available in each region of each country in need of development assistance. Village Corps is creating this “system” to help the poor “get on the path” to meeting their own needs in a scalable, regenerative manner. And through the help of trained Fellows (coordinators who help villagers remotely from the village), villages can systemically organize themselves and marshal the resources and training they need to implement lasting positive change.
