Regenerative Development

By ‘Regenerative’ Development, we mean a focus on identifying the key economic and ecological drivers that will foster long term, sustainable value for a resilient community and profitable returns for capital partners.  To us, Regenerative Development is not only about designing and creating a building program to the highest “green” construction standards (ie: Living Building Challenge).  It is much, much more.  And, in the long term, we see the Regenerative Development process as having significant potential for positive land/property asset appreciation for all stakeholders.

Smart Infrastructure

For instance, a community wide potable water system that is designed to provide for the entire community, and all new development projects, for generations forward (fulfills community need for water) at ongoing affordable costs (fulfills community economic sustainability for all its citizens) that is in harmony with natural systems (positive ecological impact) and may be co-managed in a public private partnership with the Town (cost savings for Town and revenue for private water manager/capital partners).  This type of approach helps transform today’s monolithic infrastructure programs into ecological and economically sustainable infrastructure for generations to come.

Industrial Ecology/Symbiosis

In the Regenerative Development process, we seek multiple scenarios of the above for sustainable business opportunities that would provide positive ecological impact in the local community and provide products and services to surrounding communities as well.  These opportunities may include renewable energy; eco-tourism; waste and storm water management; refuse collection/organic waste-to-energy; potable water systems; organic farming/urban vertical farms; etc.
